I received a 76 on my 1st Pedi test. That's not great, but it's passing. I have 6 more tests to go so hopefully I will be able to bring that up to at least a B. I made a 93 on the math test so I will not have to take that again. We also got our clinical assignments today. Mind you that the instructor who is supposed to make these assignments is in the hospital right now. The head of the department decided to make them. We had all signed a piece of paper the 1st day of class AND we had to redo it the 2nd week of class stating if we wanted to do clinicals in beaumont. So of course I signed up for this. Well apparently the Head of the department can either not read or just don't give a freakin flip because people who did NOT sign up for beaumont got beaumont, and the one's that did....of course got port arthur....So screwed up! Luckily someone wanted to trade with me! So I ended up with evening clinicals in beamont which are from 12pm to 8pm. So that would mean I wouldn't get to work those days, but then I found someone else who wanted evenings! So it worked out and I will be able to have clinicals in the AM at Beaumont. Now lets see if the Head of the department will let us switch. SHe just happened to be out of town today. Haha. Probably a smart move since everyone was unhappy with the assignment. This program is so messed up. I'm not looking forward to the rest of the semester....I just gotta get through it!

The first test...
We had our first Med/Surg test today. I made an 81 on it. The day did not start out that great though. Our first computerized, timed test and we, once again, get screwed. We get there before 8, because the test starts at 8. The teacher shows up 10 min. late. We walk in to the classroom where we are supposed to take the test. Every single computer is completely unplugged. Screens, mouse, keyboards, everything. They are brand new computers and have never even been hooked up the LSCPA network. Yeah this is going to be great. At 8:30 we are told to move to a different classroom. We go to this classroom, begin to log-in, Over half the people in the class do not have access to the test. Instead of the teacher asking all of us to wait to take the test when the other students have access (And like the other instructor had told her to do) she tells us that have access to go ahead and start the test. I know this is a very bad idea, because 1-she is going to continue to keep talking to the people who don't have access and 2-she will continue to answer her cell phone that is NOT on vibrate or silent. But I go ahead and do what she says because she keeps standing behind me and telling me what to do. So I start the test and guess what, she keeps talking. I can't even comprehend the questions. I get to about question 15 and guess what happens next! The other students get access to the test and it shuts everyone else tests down. It was sooo frustrating. And all the instructor kept saying was "Be patient". Yeah. So we had to start the test all over again. So I am just lucky I made that 81 instead of failing because of all of the distractions. These people have got to get their acts together. This is ridiculous. We have paid A LOT of money and have put A LOT of our time into this. We deserve to be treated better. And the whole reason we are going through this....so the Head of the department can get a nice bonus at the end of the year. Very sad. So we get a crappy education and don't do well on the NCLEX so she can have more money. The world is a screwed up place.

Check-offs
I finished my last check-off today! We had to show we could suction and clean a patients trache while maintaining sterility. I have now passed all my check-offs for this semester. Yes I have to do them all again while in clinicals but that is different. I'm excited to start clinicals! I'm ready to find out where I will be placed. I'm still praying for Beaumont, but I don't know if it will happen. We have our first Med/Surg test monday, a math test tuesday (which will decided if we make it to clinicals or not), and then our first Pedi test on Thursday. Then the next week we start clinicals! Yay! This semester hasn't started ou very well organization wise, but class wise it's not to bad.

Level 2!
So I have been in Level 2 for almost a week now. I have already learned how to give meds, put in catheters, give shots, and hang IV bags! It's been a very busy week! It started out not that great just for the fact that they let 22 new people into our level who had failed. We now have 69 people in our level. So they had to split up our class. So i got separated from all of my friends of course and the labs have been a mess. The whole place is incredibly unorganized! It's pretty bad. But i'm hoping it will get better soon. I'm really enjoying actually learning the skills now! The teachers keep saying that in this level in clinicals will feel a whole lot more like a real nurse! I'm so excited!=) I'm just not looking forward to the computerized tests. We will see how that goes! So Tomorrow we have our Catheter check-off and our IV and injection practice lab. Yeah! Now I just need people to volunteer for me to practice giving shots!=)

Vacation!
Last Friday Cody and I decided to drive to Dallas and stay with Brad and Jackie for a vacation! It was awesome. We went out to eat, played board games, stayed up late, drove around Dallas. I even got to go shopping at this wonderful place called Sam Moon! It was awesome! I bought me a new purse, 2 new cute polka dotted tote bags, and a cute key chain with a nurse hat on it. So cute. Tomorrow I go back to work. Friday through Monday. I'm not looking forward to it. At least not tomorrow, because I know my horrible boss will be there and I just hate it when she's around. Then Monday it's back to school! First day of Level 2! I went and payed for my classes today. I will be in class Monday and Tuesday and clinicals Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Everyday 8AM to 3PM. Very busy! And then I have to find time to work in there somewhere. Oh yeah and then there's that thing called sleep. Oh and a wonderful husband that I will barely get to see. But It's only like 5 months. Then the summer session and I'm an LVN! Yay!=) So I'm glad I had a mini vacation before I become busy busy busy!
