I made it through my first Foundations of Nursing Class. It seems a bit fun. We went over stress and how to cope with it today. She figured we needed to know how to keep ourselves alive during nursing school. I agree! She made us take this quiz on how much stress was in your life at the moment and under 150 points was normal. I had 598. No I'm not stressed! haha! So yeah, I hope I can make it through!
Then we had another Instructor come in and talk to us about our Medical Terminology work. It is all online. She said that we could do it in our "spare time". Ummmm what the heck is that? Spare time? In nursing school? What are they smoking? So now I have Extra work, besides studying, to do at home.
And now not only do I have all that stress on me, but now we have wonderful Hurricane Gustov in the gulf coming towards us! We are just waiting to see if we are going to have to evacuate! Which will totally suck. Totally. I'm not looking forward to packing everything I possibly can into my car and driving to Dallas. Ug. I don't want to do this again. Rita was enough!

Basic nursing Essentials
So I made it through my first Basic Nursing Essentials class today! It Was overwhelming but surprisingly very interesting! I'm looking forward to it! This professor is also one who goes by the book! She also puts everything onto slides and send them to us by e-mail so we don't have to write but just a few notes! That's awesome! So far, this program sounds a lot better than LU!
I also had my first practice lab today with 2 peer check offs! We had to show sterile technique, like putting and taking off sterile gloves, a gown, and mask. We also had to open a cath package while keeping it sterile. It seems like easy stuff so far. Just remember the little stuff! But I learned that in my CNA class. It's the little stuff that counts.
So I am still VERY excited! Now tomorrow is my first Foundations of Nursing class with Medical Terminology and Mental Health thrown in there. We will see how it goes!=)

Class
So my first day of Pharmacology and Drug Calculations is over.....It looks like I need to refresh myself on converting decimals to fractions and vice versa. As far as Pharm goes....it was ok. It seems somewhat interesting. It's just that the class is just soooo long! It's hard to stay awake! Fortunately I have a profesor that likes to follow the book so i will be highlighting alot more than writing tons of notes! So far I am still excited about nursing school! I have all of my test dates now and it looks like I have a test almost every week! So I guess i need to go study now before I go to bed!

LVN Orientation
Well....Today was my first day of nursing School. I met all of my professors, they went over the handbook, and I got my first syllabus. it looks like it will be as tough as I thought it would be....Yay.
But...I am still VERY excited! I can't wait to get in there and start putting in NG Tubes and all that fun stuff! I am ready to be a "real" nurse instead of a measly CNA.
I am going in tomorrow for 30 min. for my very first check-off. It's over vital signs. Wow like I do that for a living now, I think I can handle it.
We were told that we have to take HESI tests at the end of each semster which we have to pay for. Yes more stuff we have to pay for. Like 14 books at $800 wasn't enough.
I have already bought my lab coat and I'm excited about getting to wear that! I know It might be hot, but I have so much pride that I will wear it anyway!! haha=) Yeah I'm stubborn!
Well I guess that's all for now. I will blog again once I actually have my first real class. Wednesday I have Pharmacology and Dosage Calculations. We will see how the math part of it all goes!=)
